Finished the ARE – Next Steps
Notification
NCARB typically notifies CAB of ARE completion a few weeks after the ARE Score Report is released to a candidate. We ask candidates to wait at least 30 days before requesting a status update. You may use your Connect dashboard or the contact form at the bottom of our Contact Us page to make inquiries into your status.
A candidate will be notified of their status and CSE eligibility once all required documentation has been reviewed by CAB staff.
Immediate Next Actions
Candidates required to complete the Architectural Experience Program (AXP) must request NCARB transmit their AXP Record to the Board. NCARB does not automatically send AXP Records to the respective boards. Request a transmittal through your NCARB Record.
Any candidate still exempt from the AXP requirement must submit enough training (work) experience to meet the requirement for eligibility to take the CSE. Work experience must be submitted on one of our Employment Verification Form.
How CSE Eligibility is Determined
CAB uses California Code of Regulations section 117, also known as the Table of Equivalents to assess the amount of experience credit is earned towards eligibility to take the CSE.
Submit a CSE Application
CSE-eligible candidates may submit an CSE application after they are advised of their eligibility. Do not submit a CSE application if you have not been advised of your eligibility. Ineligible candidates who submit a CSE application will be found deficient and notified of their status. This will delay the eligibility process later.
CAB will deny and refund the CSE application submitted by individuals who are not yet candidates. Submission of a CSE application does not make an individual a CAB candidate.
